Brian Souter’s company, Highland & Universal Securities (no2) Limited, has been shortlisted as a bidder for the Gourock-Dunoon ferry service.
He said: “I am well aware of the importance of the Gourock-Dunoon ferry services to the local community and Highland & Universal Securities is well placed to improve on the current levels of service provided to ferry passengers. I am pleased we have progressed to the next round of the tender.”
Highland & Universal Securities is a company owned by the Souter family. It does not involve Stagecoach Group plc, the listed bus and train company headquartered in Perth which Mr Souter co-founded and of which he is chief executive.
Highland & Universal Securities is the owner of Fullers Group Limited, a successful ferry company based in Auckland, New Zealand. It operates 15 ferries and carries over 4,000,000 passengers annually.
